From zero to 80 training courses in record time
For the training catalog, a start was made from a blank page. Syntra/PXL, together with other consortium partners (including UHasselt and Embuild Vlaanderen), determined the central themes of the catalog in working groups. Guiding in this were the current training needs within the construction and energy sector, and trends and future needs were also taken into account.
For the fulfillment of the offer, all Syntras in Flanders were contacted and activated, in order to make a training offer available that is as broad as possible and also locally available. In addition, other training institutions were also approached and a call was made via the EDIH-EBE newsletter and via the partners.
These efforts have led to a frequently visited online catalog with about 80 diverse training courses divided across 7 central themes:
- Applications & solutions
- New services & business models
- Networks, communication & infrastructure
- Energy data processing / control
- Energy data retrieval
- Energy data storage
- Computer / network security
For the development, an experienced external partner was contracted (Mailbox).
The user is central
User convenience and user's experience were the important priorities in the design and development of the catalog. To increase user convenience, tools such as a calendar function and a semantic search engine with keywords were therefore implemented. Furthermore, attention was also paid to a beautiful display and smooth functionality from both laptop and mobile.
A good report
Initially, the intention was to track the visitors in detail, but due to GDPR regulations, only limited data could be logged. The web statistics do paint a positive picture, both in terms of numbers and duration of use.
Nearly 1,400 unique visitors made use of the catalog in the period from January 2023 to February 2026. The average visit time per session of 3 minutes and 14 seconds scores on the high side. This shows that the website is user-friendly and that the content aligns well with the expectations and interests of the visitor.
